LO1, LO5 Find out what the function of a pulse in a piece of music is. This Video is related to Perform: Find the Pulse

Tip 1: Play a piece of popular music in the classroom and ask the class to clap along. The way we move to a song or clap to a song is the puls. All Musicians and listeners feel the same pulse and this creates a connection between the performance and the audience. 

Tip 2: Now play a really slow tempi piece such as Thinking out loud by Ed Sheeran until the class has found the beat then stop.

Repeat the same exercise with medium song tempo such as Rolling in the Deep by Adele

Finally repeat with a fast tempo piece such as Scuttle Buttin’ 

Get the children to put them in the correct order. If there is confusion go back to the song and clap along with your students.
